Court hours: Pretrial conferences are usually scheduled for weekday mornings at 9 a.m. or in the afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
Court information: The City of Albany, Corporation Counsel’s Office prosecutes the speeding and traffic tickets that were issued by the New York State Troopers and the Albany City Police Officers. It is still the custom to meet with the officer if you were issued a ticket by a State University Police Officer (University at Albany) or by an Albany County Sheriff.
The Court is located in the basement of City Hall, adjacent the Capital and next store to the NYS Court of Appeals. Visitors must park in the street or in one of the local parking garages. On street parking is limited and meter parking is costly. The meters are regularly checked and parking tickets are issued, beware!
General information. Albany is the Capital of New York State. There is a heavy volume of traffic into and out of the city during regular business hours, especially when the State Legislature is in session. Interstate 90 runs through the City of Albany from exit 24 of the New York State Thruway west into Renesselar County towards Massachusetts. The New York State Thruway also runs thorough a section of southern Albany. Albany is the home of the University of Albany, State University of New York, Albany Law School, Albany Pharmacy College, and Maria College. The New York State Museum, the Times Union Center, and the many restaurants draw visitors from all over.
